The American School of Barcelona is a non-profit international school located just outside of Barcelona, Spain. With over 975 students from 60 countries, ASB stands apart for its multicultural environment.
We offer a holistic American curriculum for students from preschool to high school, leading to the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, we provide students with comprehensive opportunities in sports, performing and fine arts, public speaking and leadership.

ASB has an active Parents Association. Their mission is to bring joy to the school environment and foster close communication between ASB families and the school. All parents are part of the PA when they enroll their children at the school. The PA has an Executive Committee that organizes a number of memorable events throughout the year. To make each event a success, the PA depends on our dedicated parent volunteers. Other leadership roles within the PA include Class Reps, Division Liaisons and Welcome Ambassadors. All

We welcome students who require additional support due to learning differences, special educational needs or disabilities provided that, by making reasonable accommodations, our Student Support Team believes they will be able to meet the needs of that student.
In the Elementary and Middle School, we provide limited Learning Support services for students with mild learning disabilities and for those who need support in developing early literacy skills and temporary targeted, academic interventions. In the High School, we offer limited support, such as organizational strategies and extended time on assessments.
A primary consideration in offering admission will be the student’s ability to access the regular curriculum with limited support, and the level of resources needed to support the applicant. Unfortunately, we cannot offer places to students who need extensive curriculum modifications or constant one-to-one support.
Prior to applying to ASB, parents with children with special needs are requested to submit all relevant documentation to the admissions department so that we may determine whether or not we have the right program to meet that child's needs. Documents that would be helpful include Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), report cards, and doctor or psychologist's evaluations.

ASB has been offering the IB Diploma Program since 2009. The Diploma Program is world-renowned for its rigorous and robust pre-university curriculum with an emphasis on critical thinking skills. After School Activities
ASB offers a wide range of after school activities, including boys and girls sports, performing arts, music, chess, and more. Activities are held Monday through Friday, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm with some High School Sports from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. There are also after school buses to central Barcelona that depart at 5:30 pm.

School Nurse
ASB has a fully equipped health office staffed by a full-time health specialist. Sick or injured students can be treated any time, or can rest and wait for pick up.
After School Activities
The goal of ASB's after-school activities program is to allow students to explore their individual talents and discover new interests outside the regular school hours. The program includes a range of activities for all age levels in the areas of Academics, Sports and Performing Arts. Activities are held Monday through Friday, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm with some High School Sports from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. There are also after school buses to central Barcelona that depart at 5:30 pm.
